One road trip, 72 Krispy Kreme's, far too many beers and a shitload of VAGs - Ultimate Dubs was the perfect way to kick off the 2014 show season!

Setting off on the Stena Mersey from Belfast to Birkenhead we were excited to see what lay ahead. Being our first trip across the water, we had only heard glowing reports about Ultimate Dubs and we weren’t disappointed.

As we pulled into the car park of the International Centre we instantly believed the hype… this wasn’t just any old show. Perched around the wash bays lay a who’s who of the UK car scene! I pulled up, sheepishly washed my car and then made my way inside to meet up with our friends Kleen Freaks. What I found was hall upon hall of some of the finest VAGs the UK had to offer.

While it was great to see many cars we recognised from their #internetfame there was also quite a few new builds, while others had received major makeovers over winter. Some of our favourites included Jules Loose’s Audi RS4 which was sporting a new set of Messer shoes, Thalia Bakker’s A5 Beetle on Rotiform IDK’s, Harry & Rob Bones candy red Lupo GTI on CCWs, Frederik Ceulemans Green MK1 Sirocco whose smoothed and tucked bay was topped off with chrome and carbon parts… we could go on. You see every car lucky enough to be selected to displayed inside those four walls is something you’d be proud to call your own – it’s simply impossible to pick JUST one car.

The stars of the show however had to be the guys and girls from Dub Fiction who went home very happy after picking up an impressive 11 awards. Top work!

We weren’t the only ones to make the journey across the Irish Sea – Northern Ireland was well represented at this years event with Rodney McKnight, Dean McFarland, Marty McConnellogue and I all revealing our new looks for 2014 while Dubshed & I Love Bass also had trade stands.

Reflecting over a cold pint of Magners on our journey home, we felt our first trip to Telford was a great success – we had our eyes opened, came home with bucket loads of inspiration and had some great stories to tell. I think it’s safe to say Ultimate Dubs is an event that we will have penciled into our diaries for years to come.

#UD15 anyone?
