After being impressed with our first taste of the NI-BMW show last year we decided to take another journey round Belfast Lough to check out what 2015 had in store.
Now in its 11th year, the NI-BMW show is THE annual gathering of roundel enthusiasts across the island of Ireland. Located in Carrick with picturesque views of Carrickfergus Castle in the background, all kinds of BMW old and new meet to show off their bimmers and chat to fellow aficionados.
Unfortunately I awoke to a message letting us know that the show had been pushed back from 12pm to 2pm due to terrible weather conditions. This was an inspired decision as by the time I had met up with the GTINI team at lunch the skies had not only cleared but the sun was beating down.
With blue skies above and the car park filling up it was clear that there was some great cars on display. Our favourites included Richard Smyth’s E30 320i chromie, which was recently bagged by our friends at Design RMC, sitting on 16” Stuttgart ST7 wheels.
We also enjoyed Trevor Wylie’s Yas Marina Blue F40 M3 which has incredible road presence with its carbon air ducts in the front bumper.
Another car we enjoyed was Jonny McMullan’s Z4 which looked aggressive slammed on BBS CH’s with a massive rear diffuser framed by dual twin exit exhausts.
On the non-BMW side of things Cathal Dobbin’s exceptionally clean Subaru Imprezza stood out, picking up the best visitor award while the guys at GTINI picked up the prize for best visiting club.
