Five hundred miles, five cars, five prizes, one epic road trip to the Limerick VW show.

Having attended last years show with our friends from I Love Bass & GTINI, we decided that this year we would definitely have to make the 500 mile round trip with a Fitted State stand of our own. Since moving to a new venue last year, the event has grown in popularity and this saw many familiar faces making the journey from the North.

We departed from Sprucefield on Saturday afternoon and after a quick stop in Ardee to pick up a passenger and a set of wheels for Gavin’s Passat we were on our way down the M7 to the Kilmurray Lodge were we ate some steak, drank a ‘few’ beers and spent the night.

After an early start on Sunday morning to wash the cars we then made our way to Limerick Racecourse to get set up. The show in Limerick is quite unique as it is really 2 shows bundled into 1 – the VW show held in the paddock and the classic show which is held in the surrounding grounds.

Despite the poor weather we had a great day at the show and it was interesting to see some fresh metal from the guys who don’t travel up north to GTINI’s VW events. Our day was made even better when it came to prize giving as all 5 cars on our stand came home with a award:

Clark – Best MK5 Golf
Gavin – Best Passat / Bora / Jetta
Pete – Runner Up ‘Big’ Audi
Owen – Best Custom Classic
Marty – Car of the Show

We would like to thank the Limerick Classic Car Club for hosting the event and providing us with an excellent spot at the show, to the Killmurray Lodge for hooking us up with some cheap hotel rooms and to David Petkevicius for persuading Pete to hop in his car at 1am after a night out in Bangor and drive all night to make it to the show.
